Today at math camp we learned about Maria Agnesi. She was born in 1718 and died in 1799. She was also a child prodigy and learned five languages.
She had to teach her 21 younger siblings after the death of her mother. There is a book that has gathered about 200 of her speeches. After her father died she gave money to good causes and died poor because of her generous actions. Then we learned about Fibonnaci who was Italian. He spent his childhood in North Africa. He is known for a sequence of numbers called Fibonnaci Numbers.
Then we measured ourselves for the golden ratio. We later played a logic game called mastermind. Then, we learned and played with Pentominos. It is five squares placed in different spots touching another square by the side not the corners. Then we watched a video about how animation uses math.
